a stitch in time

It’s taken me a few days to post about it, but last weekend was the launch of the brand new book, A Stitch in Time, by Jane Waller and Susan Crawford.  I’d been on the waiting list for this book to come out for so long, and I pre-ordered it at the I Knit Day, so was thrilled when it finally arrived in the post.

It’s not an entirely new book, but rather a re-working of the original published in 1972, featuring vintage patterns from the 1920s to 40s.  Susan has done a great job with the styling and photography to bring everything up to date and in modern yarns, looking suitably gorgeous.  The designs are very wearable, and there will be a few heading in to my queue.  Perfect for a cardigan girl like myself.

There was a great turnout for the launch, and it was a great chance to see the knits in real life.  Craig took some great pictures – check them out on the I Knit Blog.  The seagull swimsuit is an absolute winner!

I love the fact that the book is clearly titled Volume 1; I’d love to know what’s in store next.
